The Leadership Practices Inventory® Is a Highly Effective Assessment Tool
Based on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership by best-selling authors and renowned leadership experts, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, the LPI® 360 helps to develop effective leaders through approach, assessment, practice and development.
The LPI® 360 involves a self-assessment where the leader records what they perceive as their behavioral frequency based on a 10-point likert scale. Observers are then asked to assess the leader based on the same 30 behavioral statements on the scale, assessing how often they see the leader perform each leadership behavior. Observers are categorized as

The LPI® 360 includes 30 behavioral statements and up to five open-ended essay questions that the observers were respond to in reference to the leader they are assessing. If desired, the essay questions can be customized to map the LPI® 360 to:

The LPI® 360 offers three reporting options:
- Individual Feedback Reports
- Reassessment Reports
- Group Reports
The Individual Feedback Report is specific to the leader who completed the LPI® 360 and contains the leader’s self assessment data along with the feedback from his or her observers. The report provides an overview of the data along with a breakdown for each of The Five Practices, 30 behavioral statements, a percentile ranking comparing the leader to over 1.8 million respondents in the database as well as including responses for the open-ended essay questions.
The Reassessment Report compares the leader’s the initial assessment results with a follow-on assessment, usually taken 6 to 12 months later. This allows leaders to measure their progress, and to evaluate and adjust the details of their personal development efforts.
The Group Report presents the aggregate data of entire group (e.g., team, department or organization), and includes both self-assessment and observer results.
