ENABLE OTHERS TO ACT: Support the decisions that people make on their own
Today’s Tip: The next time a colleague makes a decision with which you disagree, challenge yourself to NOT automatically correct your colleague’s work or ideas. Instead, if you are concerned about a potential outcome, ask for clarity and context. In this way you are creating an environment in which fresh ideas are welcome vs. dictating how things get done.
Food for Thought:Exemplary leaders demonstrate confidence in the abilities of others and actively create a culture where people feel in control. They give others the discretion to make their own decisions, and they provide guidance where needed to improve the decision-making capabilities of others.
